About Service in Sports
Service in Sports is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to creating scholarship opportunities for youth athletes through engagement in community service.
Our organization
Service in Sports was founded to help support youth athletes who want to serve others and their communities through a scholarship program. Youth athletes plan or participate in service opportunities in their communities and, on completion, receive a scholarship to help offset the costs of participating in their sports programs. Both service and sport are rich with opportunities to develop oneself, build lifelong skills, and work as a team.
Service is an integral part of building and practicing a variety of life skills, including planning, communication, accountability, work ethic, and awareness. These skills extend beyond the court and will benefit our youth in their educational and professional pursuits as well.
Service as a team
We also partner with youth sport teams who want to provide a service-learning opportunity for their teams. Past team events include park clean-ups, volunteering at an animal shelter, youth skills camps, and helping people who need household projects done, like yard clean-up or moving. Other projects might include organizing food, toy, winter clothing, or household item drives for those in need.
If you would like to set up an opportunity for a team you are involved with, contact us and we will do everything we can to support you.
Where we serve
We currently operate in the greater Benton, Linn, and Lincoln County area of Oregon and support student athletes who participate in programs in our communities. As funding allows, we may broaden our region.
